How to make a Ribbon Bookmark

Getting your materials
You will need:

1/2" wide ribbon

Thin ribbon
-
String
-
Scissors
-
Lighter
If you are a kid, your 12 or older family member should help you with the lighter.

Get the ribbons ready

Thick ribbon:
Cut a hole at the top, leaving a bit above it. Then use the lighter to melt the two cut ends of it and the outsides of the hole, holding it underneath.
Don't hold it too close or for too long!

Thin ribbon/string:
Use your fingernail to get the string that keeps the ribbon together. Pull gently but firmly to undo the whole thing. If you're using string, wrap it around your hand a bunch of times and cut the two opposite sides.

Stick the string into the hole
I have a trick for sticking a lot of string into a hole:
Wrap another piece of ribbon/string around the middle of all of the strings and stick the two edges of it into the hole. Then hold one side of the string bundle and pull the other side through.

Tie the string
Use some white string to tie the two sides of the bundle together.

USE IT!
Read your book, give it to a friend or family member, or show it to everyone in the house.
